  • The use of a thinner that is faster than required
  • Fast application and large application distance
  • Very small nozzle diameter
  • Insufficient airflow inside the application cabin
  • Dirty or faulty spray gun

Removal

Floating
Floating

Reasons

  • The use of a thinner that is slower than required
  • Thicker application than necessary
  • Larger nozzle diameter than required
  • Shorter application distance than required
  • Very low ambient or surface temperature
  • Shorter flash off time than necessary

Removal

  • If the coating is still wet, flash off time should be given and the surface should be recoated with a single layer
  • If the coating has dried, the surface should be sanded prior to recoating
Color Difference
Color Difference

Reasons

  • Improper preparation of the color
  • Insufficient hiding power
  • Higher or lower application pressure than required
  • Not mixing the coating well
  • Wrong color selection

Removal

  • The surface with the color difference should be coated with the correct color.
Cratering
Cratering

Reasons

  • Insufficient degreasing or cleaning procedures
  • Using dirty cloths
  • Pressurized air containing water and  Basınçlı havanın su ve yağ içermesi
  • Silicon contamination on the coated surface
  • Dirty application equipment

Removal

  • The surface should be sanded and recoated after cleaning procedures.
Low Gloss
Low Gloss

Reasons

  • Insufficient cleaning of grease, resin or other similar substances from the surface
  • Insufficient drying of the primer before sanding
  • The use of a faster thinner or hardener than required
  • Very long baking time or baking temperature
  • Not considering the required flash off times

Removal

  • Gloss may be increased via polishing. If this makes no impact, the application should be repeated after sanding.
Water Marks
Water Marks

Reasons

  • Water splashing to the coated surface that has not yet fully dried
  • Moisture from the pressurized airline
  • Water splashing to the surface during cooling after drying

Removal

  • The surface should be polished until the marks are removed. If this is not sufficient or if the problem repeats, the surface should be sanded and recoated.
Mottling
Mottling

Reasons

  • Use of improper hardener or thinner
  • Use of a thinner slower than required
  • Selecting a nozzle diameter larger than required
  • Improper pattern adjustment on the spray gun
  • Improper overlapping during application
  • Shorter flash off time than required prior to clear coat application
  • Thicker basecoat application than required

Removal

  • Application should be repeated
  • The mistakes observed during application should be corrected to eliminate the problem.
Cracking
Cracking

Reasons

  • The coating applied on a surface with microcracks
  • Using more hardener than necessary
  • Applying the primer without mixing thoroughly
  • The application made on the primer sanded before it has fully dried

Removal

  • The coating layers on the problematic area should be sanded completely and the application should be repeated correctly.
Orange Peel
Orange Peel

Reasons

  • Higher application viscosity than required
  • The use of a thinner that is faster than required
  • Very high or very low spray pressure
  • Larger nozzle diameter than necessary
  • High ambient temperature
  • Large application distance

Removal

  • Slight orange peels may be removed by polishing
  • More severe orange peels should be removed by first sanding the surface followed by recoating.
Sagging
Sagging

Nedenleri

  • Gereğinden daha yavaş tiner kullanılması
  • Boyanın gereğinden fazla inceltilmesi
  • Uygulamanın çok yavaş yapılması
  • Gereğinden daha kalın boya uygulaması
  • Boya veya yüzeyin çok soğuk olması
  • Meme çapının gereğinden büyük olması
  • Flash off sürelerinin gereğinden daha kısa tutulması
  • Uygulama basıncının gereğinden daha düşük olması

Giderilmesi

  • Boya kuruduktan sonra akma izleri zımpara ve polişleme yardımı ile giderilebilir.
  • Sorun bu şekilde giderilemiyorsa yeniden boyama yapılmalıdır.
Condensation
Condensation

Reasons

  • Rapid cooling of the surface due to the use of a very fast thinner leading to condensation on the surface
  • Rapid cooling of the surface due to high spray pressure leading to condensation on the surface
  • Working in a very humid or very cold environment
  • Conducting the assembly procedure before the coating has dried sufficiently leading to the infusion of the outside moisture to the coating

Removal
